EVLovesNYC is coming in hot with free lunch and food-service job training, and partnerships with mutual aids bring the special sauce.

Cafewal serves roughly 300 neighbors a day, Monday through Friday. This community center is the living, breathing result of the ethos our organization shares: humanity and empowerment. It’s a safe, stable, and welcoming space for neighbors to rest, pray, eat, learn, and put down roots by preparing for some of their first jobs in NYC. The space is managed and operated by new New Yorkers and volunteers together, offering autonomy and opportunities to integrate, practice English, and gain work experience. We’re seeing amazing success everyday as a community of mutual support and progress emerges before our very eyes.

Being independently funded — and not reliant on government money with strings attached — uniquely positions our initiative to be agile and proliferate in meeting the needs of new New Yorkers … and it’s working!
