For the past three years at Ramadan, we've been making Suhoor bags for people in shelters who observe the holiday. When you fast from dawn to dusk during the month, you need to get up before sunrise to prepare with a good breakfast and some electrolytes to last through the long day. Shelters don't serve breakfast early enough so without these Suhoor bags, our friends would be stuck. This year we plan to share 8,000 packs with our Muslim neighbors.
Each shelf-stable bag contains the traditional snack of walnuts and dates, as well as a breakfast bar, fresh fruit, and a bottle of water with a pouch of electrolyte powder. We assemble the bags at our kitchen and distribute them to groups and mosques who will get them to people living in shelters or without access to pre-dawn breakfast.
We can get all the supplies for each bag for $2.48. We hope you can help us (and them!) with a donation.
